Racing America's Most Dangerous Mountain

Strap in for a run up Pikes Peak with Valentin Simonet and his Renault Sport R.S. 01 at The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Pikes Peak, known as "America's Mountain," rises above Colorado Springs, Colorado. The event, nicknamed "The Race to the Clouds," has run since 1916 and is America's second oldest motorsport event. The course is 12.42 miles (19.99km) with 156 turns, starting at mile 7 on Pikes Peak Highway and climbing 4,720ft (1,440m) to a finish at 14,115ft (4,302m), on grades averaging 7.2%. The start line sits at 9,390 feet, so drivers gain nearly 5,000 vertical feet in a single run. A drive that takes the average person one to three hours takes these drivers around ten minutes. On June 21, 2026, Simonet became the first driver to take a Renault to the top of Pikes Peak. He finished third in the Pikes Peak Open class, second-best rookie and 13th overall out of 73 competitors, with a time of 9:59.9.
